Holiday Blues

That’s what I’ve been up to. I’ve been cooking a lot, learning the trade. My mom’s helping me put together a recipe book of her home cooking. It’s just for me, the recipe book. This is so I’d avoid concocting the most awful dishes of all time. If you haven’t heard yet, I have cooked the following ‘experimental’ dishes: Adobong Bistek, Tinolang Sinigang, Carbonarang Walang Cream and Minassacre na Isdang Pinirito, all original recipes of mine. No, you wouldn’t dare eat them.

But I am proud to say that I seem to have perfected my very own Carbonara recipe. I call it, Two Cheese Tuna Carbonara. I won’t tell you why.

Speaking of Carbonara, I have a confession to make. While in Cambodia, I have scoured every restaurant in the country (well, in two cities only) for the perfect Carbonara. I found it in a small, quiet restaurant in Phnom Penh and have frequented there nearly every week, but I still can’t replicate it’s taste. If you ever come to Cambodia, call me and I’ll take you there. My treat! (Then maybe, together, we can plot breaking in their kitchen, steal their recipe, and make a run for it).
